Lady Bulldogs big first half clinches 3-0 Senior Night victory over Canton

Through 25 minutes, the Mexico girls led Canton 3-0.

After the full 80 minutes, the Lady Bulldogs won their Senior Night game on Tuesday at Chris Hotop Field by that same score. Mexico outshot the Lady Tigers 20-2.

Claire Hudson scored the first two goals on breakaways set up on assists by senior Jamilet Medina and Bailey Christianson. Freshman Aunna Bessolo scored her first career varsity goal after corralling a loose ball at the edge of the goalie box.

Mexico preceded Tuesday's performance with a 5-1 win at North Central Missouri Conference foe Fulton, putting the Lady Bulldogs' final conference record at 2-8 with both wins against Fulton. On Monday, Bailey Christianson scored her first two goals while one goal each came from Claire and Grace Hudson and Brenda Matuz. Emily Moppin had two assists, and Claire Hudson added an assist.

Mexico starts the Class 2 District 3 tournament at St. Francis Borgia in Washington against Christian (5-6) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
