The Mexico Lady Bulldogs played the Kirksville Lady Tigers in Round 1 of the District tournament at Hotop Field in Mexico Saturday, falling 2-1 to close out their 2022 campaign.
While the Lady Bulldogs finished with a 5-20 season record, they closed out strong. On Tuesday, May 10, the Lady Dawgs hosted Canton for Senior Night., winning 2-0.
Aailyah Smith scored both goals in the win.
Seniors that were recognized were Wyndee Bohr, Bryna Carey, Samantha Joiner, Ruby Haefling, Shelby Kennemore, and manager Ricky Juarez-Ramirez.
Thursday, May 12 was the last regular season game at home against Winfield. Mexico won 2-1 with Shelby Kennemore scoring both goals.
Coach Hailey Schafer commended the girls for their strong play, noting Kenley Jones was key in shutting down the Winfield offense. Tessa Haefling had 21 saves.
