The excitement persisted for Community R-6 basketball after the Lady Trojans won in double overtime.

Not long after the girls defeated Central Activities Conference foe New Franklin 72-68 after two extra periods, Mason Carroll was recognized for scoring his 1,000th point in the Trojans' previous game against Fayette. Carroll finished with 12 points in the 86-29 loss to Class 2 No. 6 New Franklin (13-2, 5-0 CAC) and was honored during an official timeout after scoring his first point of the game via a free throw. New Franklin had 13 players score and knock down 14 3-pointers, but had that special moment with Community (3-11, 1-3 CAC) to fondly remember.

The Lady Trojans (9-5, 3-1 CAC) forced their third overtime game of the season after Peyton Beamer rattled in a 3-pointer to tie the game at 56. Community was down by as much 12 points in the third quarter, but the 26 points, six assists and five 3-pointers from Peyton Beamer gave them a boost. Her point guard counterpart, Lily Chitwood, scored 33 points for New Franklin (7-9, 2-3 CAC) and hit a shot to make the Lady Trojans play their second double-overtime game this season. Community won its first overtime game of the season after Brooklynn Glasgow hit three free throws in the second overtime period to finish 8-for-12 at the line with 10 points and six rebounds, and Kylie Brooks added yet another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds along with two blocks.

Community celebrates Homecoming tonight against Paris, with the Lady Trojans facing the Lady Coyotes (4-11) first at 6 p.m. and then the Trojans playing Paris (3-11) at around 7:30 p.m.
