Martha Colleen Blevins

Martha Colleen Blevins, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023.   Martha was born November 23, 1946 to Glyndon and Bertha Singleton at Maternity Hospital in St. Louis, and was the granddaughter of Charles and Eathel Levertt, and Uel and Martha Singleton.

Martha was raised in Buell Missouri until age 7, when her family moved to Mexico. She attended Central Elementary and lived in a three-room apartment, where the Mexico Ledger is currently located. Martha then attended Eugene Field, and Graduated from Mexico High School in 1964, followed by her graduation from Beauty School in 1970.

Martha is one of five siblings. Late Brother Dennis and wife Pam Singleton of Mexico; late Brother Bennett Singleton of Los Angeles, Calif.;   Sister Priscilla and Joe Arens of Springfield; and sister Emily Wiles of Camdenton.  Martha was blessed with eight nieces and nephews. Rick and Marie Singleton, Matthew Arens, Megan Goggin, Nick Arens, Late Jared Monsen, Bethany and Brooks Beamer.

Martha and Barry McDonnell had two sons Christopher Randall McDonnell of Jefferson City, and Clifton and Darla McDonnell of Columbia.  She is the grandmother of two grandsons of Clifton, Grant and Chance McDonnell, also from Columbia.

She retired from AP Greens after a 27-year long career in the plant and followed that up by starting her own business Martha’ Personal Care. Martha enjoyed helping others and spending time with her clients. She was always willing to assist with whatever they needed and offered companionship and care.

Martha enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing cards with friends. She took great pride in her beautiful yard, gardens and family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mexico.

A family inurnment ceremony will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Mexico.
