Area basketball players had another honor attached to their respective names this season.
The Central MO Info Northeast Media all-district teams were released on Tuesday, which cover basketball players from Mexico, Community R-6, Van-Far and Paris.
On the Class 4 and 5 district teams, the Mexico boys had senior Jordan Shelton and junior DJ Long gain honors after already being named all-North Central Missouri Conference and all-district in Class 4 District 8. Senior Anthony Shivers followed up his MSHSAA all-district nod with a media all-district selection.
The Lady Bulldogs had sophomore Claire Hudson and senior Lexie Willer earn honors after each being named all-conference earlier.
On the Class 1 team, Community R-6 senior Sarah Angel added to the list of her accomplishments that includes all-Central Activities Conference, Class 1 District 10 player of the year and member of the school’s 1,000-point club by making the media second team.
In Class 2, Van-Far had a couple of first-team members in junior Nikos Connaway on the boys side and senior Mara Jensen for the girls. Each had already been named unanimous first-team players in the Eastern Missouri Conference along with Class 2 District 5 team honors. Connaway was named the Class 2 District 5 player of the year.
Paris had one player make the Class 2 team in freshman Reese Sutton. She made the second team after being the Lady Coyotes’ lone all-Lewis and Clark Conference player because of her near double-double season — 9.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
