The Mexico High School Academic Team claimed their first ever North Central Missouri Conference Quiz Bowl title this past weekend.

Head Coach Dale Schenewerk says the path towards the conference started with a 440-240 win over Moberly, who was our teams only loss in last year's NCMC tournament. "We followed that with a dominating 570-160 win over the host, the Kirksville Tigers."

Mexico followed those two wins with dominating wins over Hannibal and Fulton by putting up 640 and 720 points to wrap up the title.
Mexico's performance was spearheaded by senior captain Jamison Jeffries (9th), junior Christian Frederkickson (8th) and sophomore Camden Williams (1st) who were in the top 10 tournament scorers to earn All Conference honors.

Other members of the MHS NCMC Championship team include Declan Gleeson, Liam Hoyle, Dylan Reid, Carter Blackburn, Jude Yancey (made his variety debut), Meredith Harter, and Alexia Femrite.

Coach Schenewerk says "While the team is excited by this historic win... much more lies ahead as the season races to its conclusion."
The nationally ranked MHS Academic Team will be at the Mexico Middle School for the 7th annual Bulldog Regional Interscholastic Competition on March 18th. Mexico will also host the District Tournament on April 15th.
