In the No. 1 singles match, Mexico was victorious, but Capital City proved too difficult.
The Bulldogs lost 8-1 in Jefferson City to the Cavaliers (6-6) as Brendan McKeown defeated Capital City No. 1 Ethan McNutt 9-7.
The closest margin for Mexico (2-4) after McKeown was Brixton Goerne in the No. 6 singles match as he lost 8-4. The Bulldogs’ closest doubles margin was an 8-3 loss by No. 1 pair McKeown and Declan Gleeson.
“Capital City is a good team from top to bottom,” head coach Tony Senor said. “Playing a team that is better than you will help when we get closer to districts.”
Brennan Beasley and Skylar Shaw lost Mexico’s junior varsity doubles match 6-1.
Mexico (1-1 NCMC) played at Boonville (3-2) and North Point (2-8) on back-to-back days starting on Tuesday prior to hosting North Central Missouri Conference foe Moberly (3-2, 0-1 NCMC) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
