Mexico walked off by Hallsville to lead off Fulton Invitational Tournament

Mexico couldn't begin the Fulton Invitational Tournament on Thursday with win and snap a six-game losing streak in the process. The Bulldogs were in a position for victory as the road team on their home field for the start of Pool 1 play. They were tied with Class 4 No. 10 Hallsville (their third state-ranked opponent in the previous four games) in the seventh inning after an Austin Maxwell RBI single in the sixth inning, but Cooper Rhoades launched a walk-off single to lift Hallsville to a 4-3 victory.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play two games Friday, taking on Fulton at noon and then Moberly at 7:30 p.m. Pool results will determine who plays at Mexico or Southern Boone on Saturday in placing games.
