The Wolfpack Academy California Dons came into the final games on Thursday, Aug. 10 in first place leading by one game.

The Dons played in the 4-on-4 Warrenton Summer Soccer Tournament with Mexico junior high player Angel Muralles on the team. The scores for Tuesday, Aug. 8 were 19-2 vs Warrenton Red and 10-2 vs Warrenton White gave the Dons the confidence for Thursday's games, when they defeated Warrenton Red 12-1 and finished the tournament with a 9-1 win over Warrenton White.

“The Wolfpack played as a team and once you understand team concepts of working together, success will become more evident with consistency. Little steps turn into big steps,” former Mexico High School coach Chris Williamson said. “Angel Muralles played a great game with a completely balanced attack of passing and finishing on the back post. Muralles is a Mexico Middle School student that is one of our youngest players on the 2007 birth year team, but over the summer, he has definitely been part of our success. So I agree with the saying age is nothing but a number. Muralles definitely brought Mexico a piece of gold to represent the community and a job well done, I most definitely can say.”

The fall season will start Sept. 9 and the Wolfpack will face teams from Troy and Hermann. The will of the Wolfpack Dons will continue to be tested as they move forward to be competitive.

The Wolfpack Dons want to win the tournament at the end of the regular season, continue to work hard for the town and citizens of California, and most of all, continue to improve themselves as a team of Wolfpack players.

The Wolfpack Academy is always looking to build. If you are in the community and you are ready to play competitively, Wolfpack Academy Soccer believes it's a home for you.

Wolfpack Academy Elite Soccer is a program organized and owned by Williamson and has been in place for almost two decades. The program is diversified with a variety of players of all ethnicities from different areas of Missouri. They do practices in a chosen town as well as virtual practice.
