Missouri Military Academy basketball lost both road games on Thursday and Friday, but they felt like different results.
The Colonels only trailed New Haven by at most three points after quarters on Thursday but lost 49-43 and then lost 91-35 on Friday to South Callaway, who extended its winning streak to six games.
MMA (2-19) didn’t have starter Josh McCart on Thursday due to injury and went cold in the fourth quarter after only trailing New Haven (5-16) by one point at the end of three. Nathan Dempsey led with 16 points, and Mateo Eaton had a season-best game of 15 points.
After the freshman team lost 65-40 and the junior varsity squad dropped a 55-29 game, the varsity Colonels lost to South Callaway (17-6), who they will face at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Class 3 District 7 tournament at New Bloomfield. They were led by Eaton’s seven points.
MMA hosts Senior Night against Columbia Independent (7-11) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.
