Missouri Military Academy went into the Moberly Invitational last weekend the winner of three straight games.
The Colonels now haven’t lost in six games as they finished their games Friday and Saturday with a record of 2-0-1 to win the white division of the tournament. MMA (7-2-1) defeated Chillicothe 5-4 on Friday before shutting out host Moberly 5-0 for its second clean sheet of the season against the Spartans and closing with a 1-1 tie against Wright City.
Head coach Elliot Goodwin said the Colonels’ game Friday against Chillicothe was “by far our most impressive performance of the year” as four different players scored a goal. There was an own goal on Chillicothe but Marco Afane, Kellan Mugisha, Gorka Yarte and Liam Mannion each had finishes.
“Our movement off the ball and our recognition to move the ball in the right areas was excellent tonight,” Goodwin said.
The second shutout victory against Moberly was also when MMA set a new season-high for goals in a single game. Wright City had won five of its previous six games prior to tying the Colonels.
MMA hosts district opponent Father Tolton (7-3-1) today before playing as the hosts in a crosstown matchup with Mexico (4-6).

MMA stays winless after 26-6 loss to Confluence Academy Prep Charter
Missouri Military Academy couldn’t find the offense it could a week ago at home.
The Colonels lost 26-6 Thursday to Confluence Academy Prep Charter, failing to score at least 10 points for the third time this season.
MMA lost a 30-26 shootout at home in Week 4 to Agape Boarding School, when senior quarterback Gabriel Canonico ran for three long touchdowns that added up to 187 yards.
The win for Confluence is its first victory of the season and the first against MMA in 11 years. The Colonels won the previous two meetings spanning to 2019 after not playing the Titans since a 32-0 loss in 2011.
MMA (0-5) goes back on the road Friday to face Clinton (0-5) in a battle of winless teams — the fourth straight week that has happened for the Colonels.
