During the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 8, rain and snow began moving through mid-Missouri. From around 3:30 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. on Tuesday, the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to or located 13 crashes, slide-offs, or stranded motorists. There have not been any injuries to this point.
The City of Mexico Street Department and Missouri Department of Transportation are working to keep the roadways passable. Still, drivers should continue to use caution as rain and snow continue and temperatures fall. Residents are reminded to minimize travel during this timeframe and if you are out, drive slowly enough to account for slick roadways.
