On Tuesday, Jan. 2, at approximately 9:07 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the 100 block of North Alabama about a structure fire. Responding personnel found flame coming from the front of a home. The fire was extinguished but the front portion of the house suffered significant fire damage while the rest had significant smoke and water damage. The owner of the home had left just before the fire started. He could not offer any information about what started the fire. It appeared the fire started in the area of a living room chair. The cause is still under investigation. There were no injuries from the incident.
