Mexico Public Safety responds to two fires
The Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the area of Huntingfield Road and Boulevard in reference to a fire on Friday, June 9 at around 1:55 p.m. Responding personnel found an area of grass about one-third of an acre, burning. The fire was extinguished and there was no damage to any neighboring property. It was determined the large lot was being mowed when the mower became too hot and caught some of the cut grass on fire. The mower suffered minor damage.
While personnel were still on Huntingfield Rd, smoke was seen in the area of Pollock Rd. It was determined a UTV, being operated on private property in the 1800 block of Pollock Road, had a mechanical failure and caught fire after being pulled close to the roadway for repair. The fire was extinguished but the UTV was completely destroyed. There were no injuries from either incident.
