Jennifer Huddleston, of Barnhart, who was charged with four felony counts against a child, saw her next court date set last week in Mexico.
Audrain County prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger presented an update to Judge Nathan Carroz from Montgomery County with Huddleston, 34, not in attendance.
Her next court date will be Oct. 5 and since she is in federal custody she will unlikely be seen in Mexico for that hearing as well, Shellabarger said.
Huddleston is charged with sexual trafficking of a child in the first degree (an unclassified felony), sexual exploitation of a minor child (Class A felony), promotion of child pornography in the first degree (Class B felony) and possession of child pornography (Class D felony).
“The cases are still in the associate division docket, and need to be set for preliminary hearing,” Shellabarger said. “A trial can occur after the preliminary hearing stage is completed. So, at this point, a trial is months away or sometime in 2023.
“My office is committed to prosecuting these cases through to a verdict, and although logistics make that difficult, we’re going to proceed.”
Huddleston was arrested as an accomplice to William Dahl, 38, of Rush Hill, who will appear in Audrain County Court Sept. 7 after he was charged with over a dozen sex-related charges involving a minor.
Dahl was first taken into custody in February of 2021 for six related counts and has since seen more added on multiple dates.
Huddleston was arrested two months later as the crimes allegedly occurred over a 3-year span starting in 2018 with the two exchanging pornographic material over social media.
