Tired Lady Trojans lose Homecoming game 64-42 to Paris
The Community R-6 girls couldn’t get rolling on Friday night.
After a double-overtime victory the previous night against New Franklin and Homecoming festivities during the afternoon, the Lady Trojans lost 64-42 to Paris. The Lady Coyotes gained some payback after Community defeated them during their Courtwarming last season.
“We weren't ourselves Friday night,” Community head coach Bob Curtis said. “They had all the momentum most of the game, and we just couldn't get anything rolling. We looked tired from the night before and Homecoming festivities this afternoon.”
Community (9-6) finished 7-for-20 from the free-throw line and shot 27.8 percent from the field while Paris (5-11) finished at 42.4 percent. The Lady Coyotes’ defense was active with 15 steals and 16 deflections.
Melanie Moore led those efforts for Paris with a game-high 21 points, seven deflections, six steals and five assists. Reese Sutton followed with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds along with four steals, and Kennedy Ashenfelter had eight points.
Peyton Beamer led Community with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists, Kylie Brooks recorded a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, Brooklynn Glasgow finished with seven points, six rebounds and four assists, and Aaliyah Welch had seven points.
Both teams compete in the Sturgeon tournament this week.
