Patricia Fay "Patty" Niekamp, 79, of Mexico, died Sun., Jan. 14, 2024, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. 

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tues., Jan. 23, at Arnold Funeral Home, Mexico. A private graveside service at St. Brendan Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Patty was born July 30, 1944, in Mexico to Charles Niekamp Sr. and Loretta (Nolte) Niekamp. She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and attended St. Brendan School.

In 1999, she began working at the Handi-Shop Inc., where she was employed for 20 plus years. In 2008, she was named Handi-Shop Employee Of The Year and was presented a Resolution from Sen. Wes Shoemyer representing the State of Missouri.

Patty participated in the Special Olympics and won several medals. She loved children and took care of many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years.

She loved to play bingo, roller skating, embroidery, cards, plastic needlepoint, ceramics, music, attending dances, and riding her bicycle and her birthday parties given by her family.

In 2020, she was a queen candidate for Valentine's Day at King's Daughters Home, where she had resided since her retirement.

Patty is survived by three sisters, Ruthie (Lyndal) Barker, Brenda Fike, all of Mexico, and Rita Meador of Wellsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene Niekamp Sr., Gerald Niekamp, Charles Niekamp Jr., and an infant Marvin Niekamp; and two sisters, Elaine Durham and Genrose Baclesse. 

Memorial donations may be made to the King's Daughters Home, or the donor's choice in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, MO 65265.
