Mexico resident injured

Carlee J. Abbott, 18, of Mexico, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 9 on Audrain Road 820, 1,300 feet west of Huntingfield Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the eastbound 2001 Ford F-150 traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a pole.

She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Abbott stated she was going to seek medical treatment. The vehicle was totaled and had to be towed from the scene.

Jefferson City resident injured

Tedd A. Rosenthal, 52, of Jefferson City, sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 7 on U.S. 54 at Route T, Callaway County. According too the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the westbound 2019 Kenworth T680, driven by Andrew T. Scott, 30, of Kingdom  City, slowed to make a right turn. The second vehicle, a westbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by Rosenthal, struck the read of the Kenworth.

Rosenthal was taken to University Hospital, Columbia, via ambulance. The Cruz was totaled and had to be towed from the scene; the Kneworth received minor damages.

Youth struck by vehicle

On Thursday, June 8, at approximately 12:04 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the 800 block of West Liberty in reference to a crash. Responding officers found that a 15-year-old male was attempting to cross the road and did not see a 2007 Sterling utility truck being driven by Darin Knipp, 47, of Mexico. The juvenile ran into the path of the truck and Knipp was unable to avoid striking him. Audrain Ambulance District transported the juvenile to University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The roadway was closed for about 45 minutes.

MPSD responds to fire

On Friday, June 9, at approximately 1:55 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the area of Huntingfield Road and Boulevard in reference to a fire. Responding personnel found an area of grass about 1/3 of an acre, burning. The fire was extinguished and there was no damage to any neighboring property. It was determined the large lot was being mowed when the mower became too hot and caught some of the cut grass on fire. The mower suffered minor damage.

While personnel were still on Huntingfield Road, smoke was seen in the area of Pollock Road. It was determined a UTV, being operated on private property in the 1800 block of Pollock Road had a mechanical failure and caught fire after being pulled close to the roadway for repair. The fire was extinguished but the UTV was completely destroyed.

There were no injuries from either incident.
