Man arrested after allegedly destroying property
A Fulton man was arrested and faces possible charges after a spree of damaging private property.
On Monday, at approximately 3:20 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 200 block of N Washington in reference to property damage. Responding personnel learned that someone had broken vehicle windows and building windows, and damaged utility boxes in the 200 block of N Washington and between the 300 to 800 blocks of W Monroe.
Information from alert residents led to the arrest of William L Cruce, age 21, of Fulton, at about 7:15 a.m. Cruce was processed at MPSD and released to family members. The cases will be completed and forwarded to the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney for charging decisions.
Residents are reminded that people arrested or charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
Man arrested on child sex crimes
A Mexico man has been arrested and charged with six felonies involving child sex crimes.
Wesley A. Cloven, 56, is currently being held in the Audrain County Jail with no bond amount listed. Cloven was arrested on Thursday, June 22, and had his first court date on Tuesday, June 27.
Cloven is charged with one Class B felony of promoting child pornography and five Class B felonies of possessing child pornography. Each charge can carry a prison sentence of five to 15 years. All persons charged are innocent until proven guilty. The arrest was made by the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department.
Fulton woman injured
Margie A. Power, 41, of Fulton, sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 7:40 a.m. Friday, June 23 on Missouri 22 at Audrain County Road 9377. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the southbound 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Power, turned into the path of the westbound 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Gavin A. Christy, 40, of Marshall, causing the Silverado to strike the Grand Prix.
Power, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, Columbia, by ambulance.
Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene.
