If you happen to see something wrong in one of Mexico’s parks the people in charge want to know right away.
“Just on the outside chance that we don’t know about it or it hasn’t been dealt with,” Parks and Recreation Director Chad Shoemaker told Park Board members at the regular meeting last week.
Shoemaker told Park Board members that many of the system’s features have been down or out of commission for several months now because of supply chain issues. There are three playgrounds currently waiting on parts and the city’s pickleball courts are without gates due to delays.
“We’ve been waiting on some of these parts for literally a year,” Shoemaker said. “They don’t get too excited about it when you call them.”
Shoemaker said it’s the same problems the city has been facing since COVID-19.
“It’s like everything else we’ve tried to buy or get manufactured,” Shoemaker said. “Nothing is on the shelf or you have to have it made or it has to ship from Europe. It’s just insane.”
Shoemaker’s staff will be busy this month and January getting ready for next Spring and Summer. The playground at R.S. Green Park will be completely disassembled and put back together this winter.
There will be several trees within the system that will be coming down this winter due to disease. Shoemaker said there will also be an emphasis on getting tree stumps ground down in the parks.
“It saves us time in the mowing cycle,” Shoemaker said
If you happen to drive over by the city’s pool there’s quite of bit of dirt that has been moved. Construction began last week on a
