Ryelle Schmauch made it look easy as the Thunderbirds played host to Louisiana. From the circle she conceded just two hits and a walk. No other balls escaped the confines of the infield. At the plate, Schmauch was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
Her teammates gave her plenty of help. Defensively the T-Birds were flawless -- no errors, two double plays. The bats were hot, as well.
North Callaway scored in every inning. Corynne Miller pounded 3 hits in 4 at bats, driving in three runs and scoring three. Brianna Prosser had a 2 for 3 night with 2 RBIs.
The win made the Thunderbirds 4-9 on the year, 4-3 in conference.
In an earlier contest, the Thunderbirds softball team was shutout 14-0 by Fulton in a five-inning affair. The loss dropped the T-Birds to 3-9 heading into Tuesday’s Senior Night game against Louisiana.
Callaway pitcher Ryelle Schmauch (3-8) was handed the loss. Schmauch was 1-for-3 at the plate, delivering a double. Jalyn Leible had the team’s other hit.
The junior varsity fell 9-5 to Fulton.
