That is a season-high seven straight losses for the North Callaway boys.
Wednesday's seventh-place game of the South Callaway tournament postponed to that day due to winter weather last week resulted in a 79-46 loss for North Callaway. The game snowballed for the Thunderbirds (3-11) after committing a season-high 31 turnovers, including 19 in the second half.
Russellville, who improved its record to 3-13, put North Callaway in a tough spot early after hitting five of its first six 3-point-attempts to take a 26-15 lead after the first quarter. The Indians eventually finished with 12 3-pointers. Cayden Cook led with 17 points and four 3-pointers and Tate Jennewein had 17 points and three 3-pointers.
Sam Pezold had a decent night to lead North Callaway with 18 points, five steals and four 3-pointers. Erik Blair followed with 13 points and seven rebounds. Isiah Craighead returned from injury but still wasn't at 100 percent on his way to two points in limited action.
North Callaway hopes to go on the winning side of a 2-2 Eastern Missouri Conference record at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Clopton (11-4, 4-0 EMO).
