Several Community R-6 athletes proved to be among the best in Central Activities Conference track and field.

The Trojans earned seven all-conference nods on Wednesday at the CAC meet in Glasgow. Ivy Hays led those honors with a first-place finish and first team all-CAC honor in the javelin.

Among the other Community girls to be all-conference was Victoria DiSalvo in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles as she finished second in each race, and DiSalvo was also second team all-CAC in the 4x100 relay alongside Sarah Angel, Adriana Woodson and Alyssa Beamer that finished second in the event. Woodson was an all-conference honorable mention for third-place finish in the 100 hurdles.

For the boys, Gavin Allen earned a pair of all-conference honorable mentions as he finished third in the javelin and was third in the 4x400 relay along with Ean Johnson, Tucker Cox and Lane Carter.

Allen broke one of two school records for Community at the event as he set a new javelin record with a throw of 40.99 meters, which was better than his previous record throw of 38.73 meters on March 22 in Westran. Angel just missed out on all-CAC honors in the 400 with a fourth-place finish but broke the school record with a time of 1:09.63, which was better than the previous time of 1:10.17 set by Leah Mays in 2014.

Centralia girls win Hermann Invitational

The Lady Panthers rose to the top of the podium many times on Tuesday again.

The Centralia girls won the Hermann Invitational with 1687 points after having eight first-place finishers. The boys took third place with 92 points, which was behind winner Owensville’s 140 points.

Winning their respective events for the girls was Shelby Lewis in the 200 and 400, Jozelynn Bostick in the 800 and 1600, the 4x100 throwers relay team of Harper Forshee, Cora King, Kassena Ridgel and Besan Juma, the 4x400 relay team of Olivia Adams, Becca Erisman, Harper Sontheimer and Lewis, the 4x800 relay team of Kenedee Moss, Erisman, Annie Robinson and Bostick, and Ellie Berendzen in the discus. The boys’ winners included JR Lesher in the 1600 and 3200, Payton Mabrey in the shot put, and the 4x800 relay team of Landon Moss, Dryst Bostick, Rohan Holiman and Lesher. 

For the girls, Jozelynn Bostick also was second in the 3200, Sontheimer was second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Kaylie Ensor was second in the pole vault, Autumn Hawkins was third in the long jump, Robinson was third in the javelin, and the 4x200 relay team of Sontheimer, Hawkins, Kaelyn Walters and Lewis was third. On the boys side, Cayden Dunn was second in the 300 hurdles.

Myers, Leible win for North Callaway at Guy Rush Memorial

Some Ladybirds had the highlight performances for North Callaway on Tuesday.

At the Guy Rush Memorial track meet on Tuesday, Kymorie Myers and Jalyn Leible won the discus and triple jump, respectively, to lead the girls to a second-place finish out of 10 teams with 90 points, which was behind host California’s winning 132 points. The boys finished third out of 10 teams with 100 points, which was behind winner Southern Boone’s 157 points.

The 4x800 relay team of Grace Rasmussen, Chloe Holtkamp, Rylie Scott and Pressley Schmauch also won its event for the North Callaway girls, Lia Bondurant was second in the high jump, Schmauch was second in the 3200, and the 4x400 relay team of Cora Tripp, Holtkamp, Scott and Rasmussen was third.

For the boys, Caleb Rohrbach was second in the shot put, Isiah Craighead was second in the javelin, Tristan Young was second in the pole vault, Brendan Reinhard was second in the high jump, and the 4x800 relay team of Clayton Moore, Chance Cunningham, Levi Drake and Gabe Heuer finished second.

Powell wins for MMA in Louisiana, Van-Far earns high finishes

Bryson Powell was all-state in cross country last year and is going for similar honors in track and field this year.

The Missouri Military Academy senior finished first in the 1600 and was third in the 400 on Tuesday at the Louisiana Invitational, where the Colonels finished fifth out of 10 teams with 73 points being Louisiana’s winning 107 points. Van-Far finished the meet with several high finishes.

For MMA, Kellan Mugisha was third in the 1600 and third in the 800, Elijah Canonico was third in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 hurdles, Ky-mani Erskine was third in the high jump, and Ryan Miles was fourth in the 1600.

For the Van-Far boys, Evan Utterback was third in the shot put, Gaven Gaston was fourth in the 200 and Jackson Fischer was fourth in the discus. On the Lady Indians side, Brooke-lynn Forman was third in the 800, and McKenna Engh-Hoffman was third in the 100 hurdles.

Williams wins 800 for Paris at Gerald Mansfield Invitational

Drew Williams gave Paris one victory on Tuesday in Macon.

Williams won the 800-meter run at the Gerald Mansfield Invitational, leading several high finishes for the Coyotes and Lady Coyotes.

For the boys, Landen Chapman finished second in the 3200 and third in the 1600. Chapman and Williams were also part of the winning 4x800 relay team along with Clayton Duncan and Brayden DeOrnellas. Colton Kendrick was fourth in the pole vault.

On the girls side, Alexandria Tullius finished third in the 3200 for the Lady Coyotes’ top finish as Mairyn Kinnaman placed sixth in the same event. Tullius was sixth in the 1600.
