TRACK ROUNDUP: Grimes wins 800 for 3rd place Mexico boys in Eldon

Tyler Grimes was among the Mexico boys’ victories on Thursday in Eldon.

Grimes won the 800-meter run at the Maroon and Gold Invitational in Eldon and the Bulldog team of Grimes, Alex Rowan,Taye Potter and Charlie Fisher also won the 4x100-meter relay to finish third out of 10 schools with 83 points. 

Hunter Bickell was second in the 1,600-meter run, and Andrew Peuster finished behind him, the 4x400 relay team of Grimes, Fisher, Davontae Frame and Titus Grubb was second and the 4x200 relay team of Potter, Rowan, Fisher and Frame took third.

The girls were eighth out of 10 schools with 28 points and were led by the second-place 4x200 relay team of Alexis Smythe, Alexandra Terry, Ella Raines and Emma Seibert. Maggie Ramsey was fifth in the 800 and 1600, Seibert was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay team of Seibert, Smythe, Terry and Raines was fifth.

Centralia wins Eldon Maroon and Gold Invitational

The Centralia boys and girls were both winners on Thursday night.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers each finished first in the Eldon Maroon and Gold Invitational standings with 202.5 points and 170 points, respectively. Centralia collected 14 first-place finishes.

For the boys, Dryst Bostick was first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter run, Beau Hatton won the 110-meter hurdles, Cayden Dunn was first in the 300-meter hurdles, Ethan Ross was first in the 100- and 200-meter dash, and the 4x400 relay team took first.

For the girls, Kassena Ridgel won the discus, Harper Forshee won the javelin, Shelby Lewis was first in the 200- and 400-meter dash, Kaelyn Walters won the 100-meter dash, and the girls won the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays.

Craighead breaks North Callaway javelin school record; Van-Far, MMA, CR-6 compete at Bowling Green

Isiah Craighead made some history for North Callaway on Friday in Bowling Green.

At the Bowling Green Mini-Medal Meet, Craighead won the boys javelin for North Callaway with a school-record throw of 50.74 meters and Pressley Schmauch was first in the girls 1,600-meter-run for North Callaway with a time of 5:55.18 and won the 3,200-meter-run with a time of 12:48.82. The Thunderbirds were fifth out of 10 schools with 64 points, Missouri Military Academy was third with 110 points, Van-Far was sixth with 53 points and Community R-6 was ninth with five points. The North Callaway girls were fourth out of nine schools with 93 points, Van-Far was eighth with 25 points and Community R-6 was ninth with nine points.

Finishing second for Van-Far were Malik Douglas in the boys long jump, Evan Utterback in the boys shot put and Garrett Hopke in the boys 1600-meter run. Missouri Military Academy also had some second-place athletes in Aaron Elford in the boys 110-meter hurdles, Kyran Carter in the 200-meter dash, Ryan Miles in the 3200 and the 4x200 relay team was also second.

Also for North Callaway, the boys 4x200 relay team was second, Anden Lobb was third in the pole vault and Levi Drake was third in the 800-meter run. For the girls, Kymorie Myers was second in the discus and Megan Schmidt and Lia Bondurant were second in the pole vault and high jump, respectively.

For the Van-Far girls, Trinity Skwirtz was third in the 800, and McKenna Engh-Hoffman was third in the 100-meter hurdles.

For MMA, Miles was also third in the 1600, and the 4x200 and 4x800 relay teams each finished second.

For Community R-6, Kat Meyer was fifth in the girls, Chloe Johnson was seventh in the girls javelin and Nicholas Henke finished seventh in the boys 800.

Paris girls 4x800 team wins at Harrisburg

The Paris girls 4x800 relay team was at the top of the standings on Friday.

The Lady Coyotes’ team won the event at the Harrisburg Eaton Relays, leading a school that had several more high finishes. 

Mairyn Kinnaman was third in the girls 1600 and 3200 and Ava Crain was fourth in the 400. Landen Chapman was second in the boys 800 and 1600 and third in the 3200.
