Community R-6 was teetering on the line between winning and losing in the seventh inning on Tuesday at home against Missouri Military Academy. Mason Carroll hit the leadoff batter and allowed back-to-back singles but settled down to blow three strikeouts past the Colonels for a 4-2 Community R-6 victory to end the regular season. Carroll finished with 13 strikeouts and one earned run on five hits in seven innings.

After falling behind 2-1 in the fifth inning, the Trojans scored three two-out runs, including a two-RBI single by Eli Johnson in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brant Cope had a RBI double in the second inning.

Community had two straight wins to end one of its better seasons in program history, defeating MMA one day after winning 7-2 at district foe Higbee. Head coach Joel Krato said he hopes his kids' hard work carries over quite a ways this year when the No. 2 seed Trojans (14-5) face No. 7 Madison (1-14) at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Class 1 District 12 tournament in Glasgow.

"The kids have worked incredibly hard, and we've had one of the best seasons in R-6 history," Krato said. "Hopefully, it will carry over into the postseason. We've got Madison on Thursday, and right now, that's all we're thinking about."
