The Community R-6 boys have to beat their opponents but first have to avoid beating themselves. The Trojans' turnovers played a big role in turning a 21-18 halftime deficit on Thursday to New Bloomfield in the Sturgeon tournament consolation semifinals to a 70-41 loss and elimination from the tournament.

The Trojans (3-14) only scored one point in the second quarter before New Bloomfield (7-11) started to pull away with a 46-33 lead after the third quarter. The Wildcats had eight players score and combine for 10 3-pointers as they dropped 49 points in the second half. Nate Fuhriman led with 21 points and five 3-pointers, and Jake Fuhriman had 18 points.

Mason Carroll finished with a game-high 28 points to go with three 3-pointers for Community, Caden Thomas had five points, and Brant Cope had four points and eight rebounds.

Community hosts district foe Prairie Home/Bunceton (10-6) at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The Trojans lost to the Panthers 74-40 earlier this season.
