The Community R-6 boys wrapped up their week in the New Franklin Tournament on Saturday against Fayette with a pivotal final quarter. The Trojans went into the fourth quarter of the seventh-place game down 29-28 but were then outscored 15-8 in the fourth quarter to lose 44-36.

In their three tournament games, the Trojans (3-10) went 0-3 with a 74-40 loss to Prairie Home/Bunceton (8-5) and a 43-40 loss to Wellsville-Middletown (1-8). In each game, Mason Carroll was the leading scorer, finishing with 24 points, 16 points and then 27 against Fayette (2-8). Community's final game against the Falcons saw better play through three quarters than the rest of the week, head coach Kody Asquith said, but too many mistakes were made in the final eight minutes.

"In the fourth quarter, we just had some silly turnovers and those led to easy points for them," Asquith said. "It's been what we do. When we have one turnover, we tend to have two, three, four right in a row. That's what cost us that game."

Carroll recorded a double-double as well with 14 rebounds and also had six steals, and Caden Thomas was the next highest scorer with five points and five rebounds. Fayette was led by Kaleb Friebe's 21 points and then had 12 points from Peyton Oeth and seven from Carter Vroman. Vroman and Oeth helped Fayette grab 41 rebounds.

Community (1-2 CAC) is scheduled to play at Central Activities Conference foe Madison (1-9, 0-4 CAC) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
