Trojans take lumps, brush off for CAC title game Tuesday at Pilot Grove

The Community R-6 Trojans had one ting on their minds after Monday's home loss to North Shelby: tomorrow. The Trojans lost 22-2 in three innings in an effort where they stayed away from their top three pitchers.

Gavin Allen finished 2-for-2 with an RBI, Mason Carroll was 1-for-1 with an RBI and a walk, and Ayden Meranda was 1-for-2 with single and a run.

Head coach Joel Krato said Community (11-4, 5-1 CAC) just fell short in its Central Activities Conference battle on Friday at Cairo after a 5-4 nine-inning loss, but his team has a chance at a CAC title at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Pilot Grove (12-8, 6-1 CAC).

“I think we are a district championship team, and I think we can make a run for Final Four, but we’ve got to fix some things,” Krato said. “We have the arms to do it, but we’re a little inconsistent at the plate. For the most part, I think we’ll be alright.”
