Trojans turn up offense in shutout against Sturgeon

The Community R-6 Trojans pulled a role reversal with Central Activities Conference foe Sturgeon on Thursday at home. After losing 10-0 at the Bulldogs last year, the Trojans won 8-0 after collecting 11 hits and limiting Sturgeon to one hit. Community moved to 8-1 after the game for one of the program's best season starts ever.

Eli Johnson had a key performance at the plate along with catching Gavin Allen and Mason Carroll, who combined for 13 strikeouts. Johnson finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and had a double and his first career home run.

“I worked hard for that every day,” Johnson said. “(Head coach Joel) Krato said that I’m the best practice hitter. It really boosted my confidence and everybody was saying that I was going to hit one today.”
