A three run error proved costly, giving Kirksville a 5-4 edge over the Bulldogs on Monday.

Mexico was on top 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Tigers were threatening with bases loaded and Jordan Meng at the plate when the misplay occurred. The error tied the game and the hosts gained the lead moments later when came home on a grounder to second.

The unfortunate incident marred a fine performance from the circle by Jordyn Thurman. The Mexico hurler gave up four hits over six innings, allowing no earned runs. She also helped her cause, belting a two-run homer in the first, scoring Abby Bellamy ahead of her.

Mexico added a run in the second. Brooke Teel walked and moved to second on a Kirksville error. Kierstan Epperson then drilled a base hit to center, sending Teel home.

Epperson made it a 4-0 game in the top half of the fatal sixth. Karlee Sefrit singled to lead off the inning. She stole second and advanced to third on a miscue. With two down, Epperson again stroked a base hit up the middle. Sefrit trotted home.

Sefrit went 2 for 3 on the evening, as did Epperson. Bellamy hammered a pair of doubles, making it a 2 for 4 night.

Thurman and Epperson split the RBI load two apiece.
