Van-Far football historic run ends with 42-6 district semifinal loss at St. Vincent

Van-Far football wasn't sharp on Friday night during its 42-6 Class 1 District 2 semifinal loss at St. Vincent in Perryville, but there weren't many dull moments for this season.  Van-Far's season ends at 6-5 following its first district win since 2014 when the Indians defeated Chaffee 46-9 on Saturday in Vandalia and also its first winning regular season since 2004.

St. Vincent, who are also the Indians, took a 28-0 halftime lead because of three Van-Far turnovers in the first half, several short fields and the running of quarterback Christian Schaaf, who finished with three rushing touchdowns. Van-Far quarterback Nikos Connaway ran 28 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to prevent the shutout.
