Van-Far SD decides on tire bid

Posted

Based on the minutes from the July 21 Van-Far R1 School District regular and closed sessions.

The Van-Far school board unanimously voted to approve a tire bid from Jireh.

The district has to do tire and oil/gas bids every year for transportation and Jireh was named the supplier with a bid of approximately $1,700.

“We go through a number of tires each year and have to name a supplier,” district superintendent John Fortney said. “The bid covers the cost of both drive and steer tires for buses along with mounting costs and disposal.  Statutory event. We seek bids for every year and award the contract to one bidder.”

Other Items

  • The board voted unanimously to approve a Moberly Area Community College dual credit agreement. The MACC agreement is simply acknowledging that they will provide us online dual credit courses and outlines the cost per credit hour.  Pretty standard agreement.  “It really is more of a memorandum of understanding that we are giving our kids access to their online courses,” Fortney said.
  • The board voted unanimously to approve the 2021-22 Annual Secretary of the Board Report (ASBR). This report outlines the district’s finances from the previous year and is submitted statewide. It essentially all revenues and expenses as an official accounting record.
  • In closed session, the district approved the hiring of a number of personnel, especially for the district coaching staff for the 2022-23 school year. “We are always glad to be able to add quality people to the district and even more excited to have these folks take on additional roles working with our students in differing capacities,” Fortney said. “It was a big number of hires for this close to the new year, but exciting, nonetheless.  We still have some openings to try and fill, this move allows us closer to being fully staffed for the next school year.”
