At Sacred Heart Church, 800 South Lindell in Vandalia, a number of people are expected to gather to take in a day of remembrance for JoAnna Borgmeyer.
Borgmeyer passed away on August 6, leaving behind two daughters and in honor of her love for Bingo! a number of friends have joined forces to help raise funds to assist the children.
Borgmeyer, was the City of Vandalia’s Finance Officer and died due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday with doors opening an hour easier.
Loaded nachos, hot dogs, homemade dessert, soda and water will be available while a 50/50 drawing, extra cards a silent auction and door prizes will also be on the menu.
The cost is $20 for 20 bingo games.
Bingo! was a big part of Borgmeyer’s life.
“JoAnna was a very quiet and private person,” Brandie Gay said. “She was my best friend at work. JoAnna was determined to get her job done.”
Gay, along with another best friend of Borgmeyer, decided Bingo! was the way to go to try to help the two daughters, Jayda and Jaxdyn.
“We are from a very small town where everyone joins in to help,” Gay said. “This is why I love the small town we live in.
“Working with someone for so long they become family.”
